Lego Potpourri

Lego Old David Bowie: As plastic in real life as he is in Lego Rock Band.

Here's a short Lego mish-mash of the Lego things I've been Lego playing.

LEGO ROCK BAND

For all of you people who love Rock Band and Lego "insert popular movie franchise here," this is a game that you may love/enjoy mildly.

Here's the low-down: it's Rock Band, but with Legos. You don't get online play.

There's the good and the bad of it. The interface itself is kinda meh, not the most intuitive selecting systems. Though, contrary to my original expectations, it actually made play Ray Parker Jr.'s "Ghostbusters" not only NOT lame, but just about the cutest thing in gaming this year.

If you liked Lego Star Wars/Indiana Jones for it's aesthetics (and of course like Rock Band), the $50 price tag is totally worth it. Otherwise, it's a $50 track pack of 35 songs that you'd probably love and 10 you'll feel meh about. But when the love outweighs the meh, it's $50 worth spending.

Also, the made up Lego universe factoids, totally worth it.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii
I only just got it yesterday, but have played with and without people.

I think Jesus said "A man cannot live on just Mario alone." So they put Luigi, Toad, and Meriweather von Doodingdong (aka my made up name for the other Toad) as his worthy companions in the game.

Playing alone, it's a pretty tough Mario game, which, compared to how EASY New Mario Bros. DS was, I welcome.

However, playing with 4 people is totally frantic and fun. I played the whole "part of the team" thing for a while, until I decided to be the saboteur, and pretending I was working for the Koopalings, began throwing my cohorts into the bottomless pits.

So far, it appeals not only to my heroic side, but also my unstable evil side.

But it's friggin hard. I have a lot of game to look forward to. It took me 20 minutes for 1 level, and it was in the 2nd world. Now THAT's a Mario game.
